Back from the RE

I have to start off by saying it was SO NICE being back with the RE. They have so much more professionalism, compassion and knowledge than my OB/GYN!

So here is how it went - the cyst is still there, however these are the EXACT words out of my RE's mouth when he saw it. "Ummm...I don't know what to say...I have no idea what that is. It is definitely a "complex" cyst, but I have never seen anything like it." Grrrr

Seriously...that is how my body works. I can't get the "normal" stuff, I have to be a Dr. House episode every time! So he wants me to come back in 3 weeks and check it again to see if it has grown or changed at all (it is 1cm right now). He said that he is pretty sure it is not a Der.moid cyst, but he wasn't sure what it was...maybe blood?

Now here is the thing that surprised me the most. I asked him about my fertility and if we were to resume IF treatments, where he would have me start. I was totally expecting him to say IVF because he is very much a "do whatever it takes and lets start now" kind of guy. After 3 IUI's he was talking IVF and I know women who have done 8, 9, 10 IUI's before moving on. Anyway...he said he wasn't going to speculate anything until he checks my ovarian reserve. He said that my PCOS, Insulin Resistance, Ann.ovulation, Poor stimulation, miscarriage, endo.metriosis and now cysts has him very concerned about my ovarian reserve and does not want to waste time or money on anything else until that is evaluated.

Holy crap! I am only 28 (in a few weeks) can we really be talking about ovarian reserve and menopause right now? I am not going to freak out until we get the results back (July 9th) but dang...I really wasn't prepared for him to say that.

The good news is that they do Embryo Adoption / Transfers there, so we will talk more about that when I see him on the 9th. Of course that is if DH is on board with it. He is not so sure about it right now. I just want to do the research and then talk to the RE and see if he thinks my body can carry a pregnancy. Then we will go from there.

That's all for now!

HI Nichole,

Pls take care. I will pray that the cyst is nothing serious. As for the ovarian reserve, I am with u woman!!!

I am 28 too. Yet after my laproscopy my dr told me that my ovarian reserve is affected bcoz of it. She had to remove part of my ovaries due to the huge cysts.

I wish u all the best my dear. Hope u get a positive outcome from all this... whatever the outcome is.

Nichole I don't know what to say (me with nothing to say?)! I don't want to give you some fake answer because at this point I have no clue about anything you wrote (I had to google ovarian reserve)...I can't wait to hear what your doctor says when you go back again on July 9th! I stand by you 100% with adoption or EA...whichever road you two take, I'm here for you! I personally think while you are waiting to hear what your RE says, this would be the best time to continue to do your adoption research...light at the end of the tunnel! It will all work out! No one is ruling out a biological child...you can have your cake and eat it too! You can adopt and someday if your hearts are ready, you can persue IF.

Big Hugs!

So a few streets from my house is a street called: becker! Everytime I see it I think of your little Angel! :)

I'm so sorry. It's insane to be thinking about something that happens to those who are no longer young, when you know you're so young! (I'm 27 and I think I officially have low ovarian reserve also - and have since I was 24 - though since I've just started treatment my RE is trying stimulating drugs first. Heaven knows what it will be down the road.)

You know what, though, it's good that your doctor is testing for this. "Low" is better than "no" or "even lower," and if he finds out now, he can prescribe things that take that into account and make the best of the eggs you have, rather than wasting them on treatments that are inappropriate. And, WCS, I think it can also be a blessing to avoid long periods of invasive and expensive treatments that never really had a chance - the heartache of people who've done repeated unsuccessful IVFs is so palpable.

Anyway, praying that your eggs are fine and going strong!

(Oh, also, I know alternative medicine has some ideas on lowering high FSH, but I don't know any specifics.)

Glad you are back in the saddle, so to speak!! And I am so hopeful now that you have all these options on the table. I can hear the hope and joy in your writing voice. And I, too, have had the idea of EA in the back of mind if we get to the adoption stage.
